Call for Proposals
Individuals or groups are invited to share a 10-minute in-person presentation, followed by 5 minutes of questions.
Topics* for the showcase could include, but are not limited to:
- Generative AI for Content Creation: Using generative AI to create interactive quizzes, assignments, or study materials.
- Personalized or Adaptive Learning: Deploying AI-powered chatbots or assistants to answer student questions or provide study help.
- Feedback and Grading: Leveraging AI tools to support essay grading or coding assignment evaluations.
- Ethical Use of AI in Education: Addressing challenges and biases in AI-driven educational tools. Guidelines for responsible AI usage in teaching.
- Building AI Literacy in Students: Strategies for teaching students foundational AI concepts, critical thinking about AI tools, and their implications in society and their fields of study.
- Assessment Design: Strategies used to integrate or mitigate student AI use in assessment design. May include reflections on preserving academic integrity.

Proposal Submission:
- Proposals should include a) Title of your presentation; b) names and roles of presenters; c) a brief abstract (200-300 words) outlining the focus and key takeaways; and d) any technology requirements
- Submitters will be asked to declare the extent to which tools such as generative artificial intelligence/large language models were used in creating their proposals. We expect all authors to disclose honestly and transparently any use of such tools in the course of preparing and creating proposals and presentations
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to the symposium theme – (i.e. AI use in teaching and learning, and personal reflections on responsibly using AI)
- Practical Application (i.e. what tool did you use, examples of the outcome, process you took)
- Organization and clarity (i.e. purpose, process/application, outcomes, reflection or learnings)
- Orientation to a multi-disciplinary and AI-curious audience (i.e. applicability for others to see how they could engage with it/ limitations for engaging with it)
